Wormald Australia: Sharing Expertise, Building Safer Spaces
In late July, we had the privilege of hosting two special guests from Wormald Australia — John Lynch, General Manager of Business Services, and Justin Morris, Technical Director — who led two insightful fire safety seminars in Suva and Nadi.
The sessions brought together nearly 50 participants in total, a dynamic mix of clients and professionals from the fire, construction, and building safety industries. It was a fantastic opportunity for knowledge-sharing and professional development for everyone in attendance.

Justin Morris walked participants through several critical topics including:
- The role of design in effective fire system performance
- The ongoing importance of portable fire extinguishers
- Transitioning to PFAS-free firefighting foams
- Pre-engineered kitchen fire suppression systems
His core message emphasized that well-thought-out fire safety design is essential for minimizing risk and ensuring maximum protection.

John Lynch provided a deep dive into the evolving world of Fire Fighting Equipment, covering:
- A brief history of fire extinguishers
- Approval and maintenance standards used in Fiji
- Managing defects in extinguishers, fire blankets, and hose reels
- Training best practices
- The shift to PFAS-free foam extinguishers
- Upcoming changes to AS/NZS 1841 & 1850 standards
Both sessions sparked lively Q&A segments, with attendees eager to ask questions and share their own on-the-ground experiences. A couple even asked when the next seminar would be!

The two-day event was not just a seminar — it was a collaborative platform to explore innovation and best practices, helping us all work toward safer, smarter buildings across Fiji.
And thus, we extend our sincere thanks to John and Justin for making the journey to Fiji to share their time, expertise, and valuable insights with everyone here. Their visit has not only deepened our knowledge but also strengthened the collaborative spirit between Wormald teams across the region.
