Wormald Fire & Security and Guardforce Fiji at the Nadi International Airport Business House Volleyball Tournament 2024
On Saturday, September 14th, Wormald Fire & Security and Guardforce Fiji were thrilled to be part of the 20th Annual Nadi International Airport Business House Volleyball Tournament (NIAV), held at St. Mary’s school grounds in Nadi.
This prestigious event, which has grown from its humble beginnings in 2004 with just 16 teams to an impressive 109 teams this year, brought together over 50 business houses from across Fiji, with the goal of supporting WOWS Kids Fiji, a charity helping children with cancer.
This year, 56 of our dedicated employees from the Suva and Nadi branches formed six teams, participating in the Women’s, Men’s, Mixed, Master’s, and Invitational categories.
While last year we proudly claimed the championship titles in the Women’s and Master’s Mixed categories, this year saw our Women’s and Invitational teams advance to the semi-finals.
Despite not taking home the top prize, the energy, camaraderie, and teamwork displayed by our teams was inspiring and in line with Wormald and Guardforce’s values of “Teamwork” and “Customer Service”.
Mr. Anthony from Wormald Fire Department, who competed in the Men’s category, emphasized the importance of events like NIAV in building strong team bonds, which ultimately reflect in the quality of service we provide. He shared
“This event fosters the kind of team spirit that helps us deliver exceptional customer service every day. It’s more than just volleyball—it’s about growing together as a company and community,“.
Beyond the volleyball court, Wormald Fire & Security and Guardforce Fiji set up a tent where we sold small bags of kava to support the Nadi Barracuda Swim Team’s fundraiser for their upcoming swim camp in Hong Kong.
It was a great way to contribute to another important cause while being part of such a vibrant event.
Vodafone Fiji, a major sponsor of the event for the past 20 years, not only played a significant role in the tournament’s success but also actively participated. Their Women’s team reached the semi-finals, while their Men’s, Men’s Masters, and Mixed teams advanced to the quarterfinals.
For some other business houses, it was their first time participating in the NIAV.
Ms. Rosie Talei from KPMG humorously remarked
“As chartered accountants, we’re usually seen as the bad guys who audit your accounts. But here, we get to socialize and change that narrative.”.
The tournament was an opportunity not only for competition but also for fostering friendships and building a sense of community.
Ms. Natalyn from Vodafone Fiji stated
“The NIAV is a fantastic way to build connections between businesses and strengthen community ties,”.
South Sea Cruises’ Ms. Namrata highlighted the positive impact on team building.
Ms. Umeshni from TTF and ATS Pacific noted that it was a refreshing break from the office, adding,
“It’s great to be outside of the usual office routine and get involved in something fun like this.”
The tournament was a day filled with camaraderie, fun, and spirited competition. Wormald Fire & Security and Guardforce Fiji are immensely grateful to be part of such a meaningful event, and we look forward to next year’s competition.
We congratulate all the participants and thank the organizers for their hard work behind the scenes in making the 20th anniversary of NIAV a memorable one.
Here’s to teamwork, community, and another fantastic year at the NIAV!
